The London Short Film Showcase is an incorporated not-for-profit cultural organization whose mission is to offer student and independent filmmakers a chance to showcase their work to the public.

LSFS BEGINNINGS...
The London Short Film Showcase was created in 2007 by President Jason Clarke and Vice President Darryl Callcott. With a large film community in the area and two large post secondary schools in London, both with excellent film study programs, Jason and Darryl saw the need for a way to showcase local talent. They also saw flaws in the current system for showcasing films via film festivals. Although there is a need for said festivals in the industry, they fail to teach young filmmakers / entrepreneurs the business of making movies. They are usually expensive to enter with no guarantee of recompense in the form of prizes or awards. The London Short Film Showcase was created to allow filmmakers the opportunity to display their works through an alternative to traditional film festivals. All accepted films are recognized for their inherent value, and networking opportunities are provided to their creators. Filmmaking is a form of art and entertainment, but it can also provide a lucrative career. The London Short Film Showcase strives to teach and promote that aspect of the film industry.

APPLICATIONS / SELECTION
The London Short Film Showcase is NOT a competitive festival, however all submitted works are reviewed by a selection committee for possible inclusion in the showcase. Only successful candidates will be contacted. The London Short Film Showcase will not “judge” accepted films, however we will select 5 of the 20 films for screening at The Closing Night Gala Event. There will also be a “fan favourite” secret ballot vote for each screening. The films with the most votes will win the designated prizes. All accepted films in the Showcase will share in 35% of its profits. Please refer to the application package for fund breakdown.

03.09.08: After attending The 6th Annual London Canadian Film Festival, members of the London Short Film Showcase board of directors were excited about the future of film in London and their upcoming event. Much praise to the organizers of the event for a job well done and for bringing such wonderful works to the city, as well as helping to showcase local talent to the public. London is quickly becoming a hotspot for film and television as local success stories begin to surface. London still needs to work on generating more exposure for events like The London Canadian Film Festival which is one of the few festivals in the country dedicated to screening only Canadian films. The London Short Film Showcase will strive to follow in the successful steps of the London Canadian Film Festival and hopefully will be able to offer Londoners the same high quality entertainment for years to come.
