London Short Film Showcase

About LSFS

We’re different. Here’s how:

1. We’re a Showcase, not a festival.

Film festivals are great. We’re not one of them. Unlike the festival system where only 1st or 2nd place submissions see any financial reward for their excellence, all films selected for screening receive a piece of the pie (the profit pie, that is)! Learn more about profit-sharing with LSFS.

2. We love linking talent.

Talent breeds talent. That’s why we find artists from the film community, put them in a room, and let the magic happen!

3. We bring out the crowds.

By design, the short film genre gives independent visionaries the freedom to truly explore their craft. Also by design, the London Short Film Showcase brings the best independent and student short films to the community! An afternoon of indie shorts for a box-office audience? That’s the ticket, London!

LSFS Beginnings:

The London Short Film Showcase was created in 2007 by Jason Clarke and Darryl Callcott. With a large film community in the area and two large post secondary schools in London, both with excellent film study programs, Jason and Darryl saw the need for a way to showcase local talent. They also saw flaws in the current system for showcasing films via film festivals. Although there is a need for said festivals in the industry, they fail to teach young filmmakers / entrepreneurs the business of making movies. They are usually expensive to enter with no guarantee of recompense in the form of prizes or awards. The London Short Film Showcase was created to allow filmmakers the opportunity to display their works through an alternative to traditional film festivals. All accepted films are recognized for their inherent value, and networking opportunities are provided to their creators. Filmmaking is a form of art and entertainment, but it can also provide a lucrative career. The London Short Film Showcase strives to teach and promote that aspect of the film industry.
